calculating ROI: see how it's done

How it is all calculated Cost per Bug Fix: The tool calculates the cost to address a single bug by focusing on the developer effort needed for research, commit, and code review. It multiplies: - The number of developer FTEs, - The developer’s hourly rate (derived from the monthly salary divided by 160), and - The average time needed per bug (from the research time slider). This results in the cost to prepare one bug for deployment. Annual Bug Fix Cost: This per-bug cost is then multiplied by the total number of bugs per year, giving you the total annual cost for fixing bugs. Deployment Cost: For deployments, the tool assumes a fixed deployment time of 10 hours. It calculates the cost by: - Using the QA tester’s hourly rate (from the QA salary divided by 160) and - Multiplying it by the fixed deployment time and the number of deployments per year (from the deployment slider). This represents the cost incurred by QA during deployments. Additional Costs: Beyond the bug fixes and deployments, extra expenses are added: - Support Costs: Applied per bug. - Business/Deployment Costs: - A cost per deployment (e.g., for business development). Downtime, Opportunity Loss, Reputation Damage, Technical Debt, and Morale Impact: These are added as fixed annual amounts. Total Annual Cost & ROI: The final annual cost is the sum of: - The total bug fix cost, - The total deployment cost, and - All additional costs.
